Stimulus failed: Federal Govt Jobs +465,000/Private Sector jobs -2,554,000 In the quote below Chapman sums it up:   As a way of expanding the economy, it's a proven failure. By Jeff Harding, on September 8th, 2010 URGENT LETTER TO THE PRESIDENT: The PresidentWhite HouseWashington, D.C. 20500 Dear President Obama: I observed with some concern a photo of you and your glum economic team in the White House Rose Garden during your September 3 address on the jobs report. I am aware that you are gravely concerned about the economy and

In the "Failure of the Liberal Experiment"  in September's Commentary Magazine,  James K. Glassman explains why the public saw right through the politician's rhetoric and sees the usually unseen failures of  the January 2009 $800 billion stimulus. BERK: There is always what you see and what you don't see in economics.  In this WSJ article, we find that proponents of government spending - increasing the size of government - are jumping through hoops to justify last year's stimulus plan.  The people don't believe it worked because it did not work, unless you are an employee in a government union. Then your job was saved or your raise was not fiddled with.  Read the description below and you

Today's better-than-expected -1% GDP was tempered, somewhat, by the staggering 11% spike in Federal Government spending (hello stimulus!). Today's chart looks back at the Y/Y GDP change with the same number sans government spending. As you can see from the divergence, the government boost provides a big help.  Joe Weisenthal and Kamelia Angelova CHART OF THE DAY: Thank God For Government Spending.
